Hey Teachers! School Librarians!
Send your students on the 6th Annual Scavenger Hunt to win prizes!
Did you know? The Oklahoma Department of Libraries has paid for every school in the state to get free access to Britannica School, an online student encyclopedia from one of the most trusted names in reference: Encyclopedia Britannica. To introduce students in grades K-8 to this comprehensive resource, we’re joining with The Oklahoman’s Newspapers in Education program to host an information scavenger hunt with lots of prizes!
Prizes Grades K-5: The grand prize winning student will receive a $50 Walmart gift card and a selection of free books. Nine lucky students will each receive a $15 Walmart gift card. And the grand prize winner’s school library will receive a one-year free subscription to Britannica ImageQuest!
Prizes Grades 6-8: The grand prize winner will receive a $50 Walmart gift card and some free books! Nine middle school students will each receive a $15 Walmart gift card. The grand prize winner’s school library will receive access to Britannica ImageQuest, free of charge for one year!
Step One: Get Britannica School. Make sure your school library has online access to Britannica School. Don’t have access? Go to account set-up or contact Arlene Paschel at 405-522-3505 or Arlene.Paschel@libraries.ok.gov.
Step Two: Register by February 12 for The Great Britannica Information Scavenger Hunt. You’ll get digital delivery of the Scavenger Hunt on February 14.
Step Three: Go on the Hunt! Show your students how to access Britannica School to answer the questions in our scavenger hunt. Collect their answers. By Friday, March 9, send both the total number of students who participated, and the names of all participants who aced the hunt to: BHuntsman@oklahoman.com. We’ll hold a drawing for the prizes!
