Closings and Cancellations

All Oklahoma public libraries are completely closed, or closed with some staff working inside the building. Very few public library buildings remain open to the public. We recommend you contact your local library to see what types of services they still have available.

Status of Oklahoma Public Libraries (Updated 4-2-2020)

Ada Public Library: Closed to the public March 17–April 5. Staff will be working. The library will be passing prepackaged meals through the back door to children.

Allen Public Library: Closed to the public until further notice

Alva Public Library: Closed until further notice. Available to answer phone calls and Facebook messenger during regular business hours.

Anadarko Community Library: Closed to the public until April 6

Antlers Public Library: Closed to the public but someone will be answering the phone, email and Facebook.

Ardmore Public Library: Closed to the public starting March 16 for 30 days

Barnsdall Public Library: Closing March 20 for 30 days

Bartlesville Public Library: Closing at 9pm on March 18 and will remain closed through April 6

Blackwell Public Library: Closed to the public. Phone and curbside service available.

Boise City – Soutar Memorial Library: Closed to the public until further notice

Bristow Public Library: Closed to the public until further notice

Buffalo Public Library: Closed to the public, phone service available

Catoosa Public Library: Closed to the public

Chandler Public Library: Closed until further notice. Staff will be checking voicemail.

Chelsea Public Library: Closed to the public until further notice

Chickasha Public Library: Closed until further notice

Claremore—Will Rogers Library: Closed March 17–April 13

Cleveland—Jay C. Byers Memorial Library: Closed to the public until further notice

Crescent Public Library: Closed until further notice

Coweta Public Library: Closed until further notice

Dewey Public Library: Closed to the public until further notice

Drumright Public Library: Closed until further notice

Duncan Public Library: Closed until further notice. Staff will be on hand Monday-Friday from 8am to 5pm to accept your calls, answer your emails, and help you access our online resources.

Durant – Donald W. Reynolds Community Center & Library: Closed to the public. Staff available via phone.

Eastern Oklahoma Library System: Closed to the public through April 17

Elgin Public Library: Closed to the public until further notice. Staff is available to answer phones and check-ins.

Elk City Carnegie Library: Library is closed and is offering curbside delivery. Library staff can assist by phone on how to access the virtual library to download ebooks and e-audiobooks.

El Reno Carnegie Library: Closed until further notice.

Enid – Public Library of Enid and Garfield County: Closed through April 13

Fairfax Public Library: Closed until further notice. Staff available to answer phones during business hours.

Frederick Public Library: Closed to the public until further notice. Call ahead for delivery of materials at elevator entrance.

Grandfield Public Library: Closed until further notice

Guthrie Public Library: Closed until further notice

Hennessey Public Library: Closed to the public until further notice. WiFi available in the parking lot.

Henryetta Public Library: Closed until further notice

Holdenville Public Library: Closed to public but has curbside pick up.

Kingfisher Public Library: Closed to the public. Staff available to answer calls.

Newkirk Public Library: Closed until April 17 to the public. Staff will be in the library on Tuesdays and Fridays taking calls and emails.

Pauls Valley – Nora Sparks Warren Memorial: Closed until further notice

Pawhuska Public Library: Closed to the public until further notice

Piedmont Public Library: Limiting access to the library but still open and providing books and resources.

Pioneer Library System: Closed until further notice

Ponca City Public Library: Closed through March 31 but check poncacityok.gov news for updates.

Prague— Haynie Public Library: Closed to the public until further notice. Staff available via phone. Patrons can call to request an item and pick up in front of the library. To return an item, drop off on table in front of library and call to tell staff.

Pryor—Thomas J. Harrison Public Library: Closed March 18 to April 15

Ringling—Gleason Memorial Library: Closed to the public until further notice. Taking phone and email requests. Providing curbside delivery.

Rush Springs – Glover Spencer Memorial Library: Closed to the public, effective March 19 until further notice

Salina Public Library: Closed to the public until further notice

Sapulpa— Bartlett-Carnegie Public Library: Closed until April 6

Seminole Public Library: Closed until further notice

Shattuck Public Library: Closed until further notice. Staff available to answer phones during regular business hours.

Southeastern Public Library System of Oklahoma: Closed through April 6. All library programs are canceled. Phone service will be available 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday and staff will be available to issue digital cards by phone.

Southern Oklahoma Library System: Library buildings closed until further notice. Staff will be available by phone. Hours vary by location. WiFi available from parking lot.

Southern Prairie Library System: Altus and Hollis closed to the public until April 6

Stillwater Public Library: Closed to the public. Open regular hours by email, phone and Facebook message.

Stroud Public Library: Closed until at least April 6

Talala Public Library: Closed until further notice

Tonkawa Public Library: Open for checkout only. Also has curbside reserve & pickup.

Tulsa City-County Library: Closed until further notice

Vinita Public Library: Closed until further notice

Wagoner Public Library: Closed to the public until further notice

Watonga Public Library:  Closed.  WiFi will remain on 24/7. Call and staff will assist you with online resources.

Wetumka Public Library: Closed until further notice

Wewoka Public Library: Closed until further notice

Wynnewood Public Library: Closed to the public until further notice. WiFi is accessible curbside.

Western Plains Library System: Closed until April 6. Staff can answer questions by phone. Digital platforms still available.

Yale Public Library: Closed until further notice

Yukon–Mabel C. Fry Public Library: Closed until April 15

 

The FOLLOWING workshops, events, classes have been CANCELLED:

  • The Disability Awareness Workshops in Fairview (March 25), Claremore (March 26), and McAlester (April 9). We hope to reschedule these later in the year.
  • The Health Information Classes in Ardmore on March 24 and March 31. Shari Clifton at the OU Health Sciences Center hopes to reschedule later in the year.
  • All Public Library Academy Classes through April.
  • Read Across Oklahoma at the OKC Zoo on April 7 has been cancelled. It has been scheduled for next year, April 6, 2021.
  • Health Literacy Classes at ODL, April 28 and 29. We hope to reschedule.
  • The Oklahoma Book Awards dinner on May 2. Winners in the book categories will be notified later this spring. Hannibal Johnson will be honored with the Arrell Gibson Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2021 book award ceremony.
  • The Oklahoma Library Association Annual Conference has been rescheduled for July 29-31 at the Hyatt Regency in Tulsa.
  • The American Library Association’s Executive Board announced that the 2020 ALA Annual Conference & Exhibition scheduled for June 25-30 in Chicago has been canceled.
