As the Agency Director and Chief Administrative, the Executive Director supervises operations of the Department and also serves as the State Archivist and State Records Administrator. The individual in this position directs Library staff to meet the mission of the agency as contained in the Oklahoma Statutes and the goals adopted by the State Library Board. The State Librarian represents ODL in its work with the Governor’s Office, Oklahoma Legislature, and local, state, and national agencies and organizations. The State Librarian is appointed by the seven member Oklahoma Department of Libraries Board and is an at-will employee of the Board.

Under the direction of the Administrative Librarian, the Librarian IV provides leadership for the customer, circulation, and reference services provided by ODL's Office of Library Resources to state government and the general public. The Librarian IV manages a team of paraprofessional staff and professional librarians to accomplish this goal.

The Circulation Technician holds primary responsibility for providing excellent customer service at the main customer service desk at the State Library located in the Allen Wright Library at the State Capital Complex in Oklahoma City. The position accomplishes this goal by conducting circulation and ready reference services, instructing customers in the use of library technology such as copiers, scanners, and research computers, processing holds and interlibrary loan requests, and shelving and filing materials.

Under the direction of the Business Manager, the Mail Room and Records Management Technician holds primary responsibility for receiving, documenting, and distributing incoming and outgoing mail and providing general support to the agency. Under the direction of the Business Manager, the Technician monitors the balance of the postage account and reloads the postage meter, monitors levels of agency supplies and makes recommendations for purchase, and assists with agency inventory management. The Technician also supports the Archives and Records Management division at the State Records Center and Records Center Annex, as well as other agency projects.
