Associate Dean, Content Management and Scholarly Communications

Reporting to the Dean of Libraries, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to provide leadership and expertise to refine and reposition collections and technical services in the context of emerging trends to meet evolving needs of the university community.  ALA accredited MLS degree as well as a record of progressively more responsible supervisory, managerial, and administrative duties with demonstrated ability to support, mentor and develop faculty/staff, and work effectively with others in an academic/ research library or related environment required.

 Librarian 1—Teen Services (Meadowridge)
Madison Public Library, Madison, WI

This Teen Librarian position will be based out of the Meadowridge Library and serve middle school and high school youth on the west side of Madison. This position will focus on collaborations with many community partners, such as west Madison schools, Neighborhood Centers, churches and community organizations, including The Road Home and MSCR, as well as working with neighborhood residents to identify community needs and develop engaging learning opportunities and programs to meet those needs.

The Teen Services Librarian will coordinate, collaborate and work closely with the Meadowridge Youth Services Librarian to provide assistance and programming for youth both inside and outside of the library building. This position is also part of the system-wide Youth Services team, consisting of other youth-serving Librarians, Library Assistants and Pages located at libraries throughout the city who meet regularly in order to develop programming, receive professional development and organize the library’s effort to reach the city’s youth.

Technology and Business Community Engagement Librarian
Madison Public Library, Madison, WI

Madison Public Library seeks a creative and innovative Librarian who will develop relationships with and provide services to Madison area technologists, entrepreneurs and businesses. This position will play a key role in developing the library’s web services while ensuring that such services serve all Madisonians, including unserved and underserved individuals and groups. Consistent with our mission and vision, this position cultivates community partnerships which foster the availability of technologies that support opportunities to learn, share and create. Familiarity with emerging technologies is a plus. Excellent project management and web development skills are essential.

Work is performed under the general supervision of a Librarian 3 or Library Supervisor. This series is structured to provide advancement from Librarian 1 to Librarian 2 (consistent with City policy).

Librarian 1—This is the entry level of the professional librarian career progression series. This work is initially characterized by more structured assignments, and/or is more closely reviewed, until the employee gains requisite operational skills and program familiarity.

Youth Services Librarian
Colony Public Library, Colony, TX

The Colony Public Library seeks a dynamic, technology-savvy innovator to provide the highest level of professional and friendly customer service to this active, family-oriented, lake-side community. The Youth Services Librarian plans, coordinates, promotes, and administers all aspects of specialized library services to children, young adults, and their parents and caregivers. The Youth Services Librarian manages the Youth Services portion of the Department’s annual operating budget, develops input for the Department’s annual budget proposal, develops and maintains all youth and young adult collections in all formats, develops and builds upon outreach relationships for youth services with public and private schools, day care providers, the City’s Parks and Recreation Department, home school organizations, early childhood PTAs and other community organizations and government agencies serving youth and families. Duties include developing, overseeing, and conducting programs, reading incentive activities, story times, library tours, youth outreach programs, Summer Reading incentive programs, educational programs for parents and caregivers, and other onsite and online activities for children, young adults, and their parents and caregivers. The Youth Services Librarian serves as staff liaison to the Library’s Teen Advisory Panel and Teen Anime Club and shares responsibility for providing reference assistance to patrons of all ages on a rotating basis with other librarian staff members. Schedule includes evening and weekend hours; schedule may vary.
