Reading Roundup Author Tour

Reading Roundup Author Tour

The Reading Roundup (Double R) Tour was an author and book-signing tour which was brought to several public libraries and schools across Oklahoma.  It promoted reading and discussion of the books. During the tour, students and library patrons were able to meet the authors, hear about writing techniques, learn the stories behind the books, get recommendations on others books in the genre, ask questions and get books signed.

The Double “R” Author Tour was held in conjunction with a $40,000 grant the Oklahoma Department of Libraries’ Office of Library Development received from the Reading Trust. The $40,000 was used to purchase books by Oklahoma Book Award winners or finalists in the children/young adult category. Those books were placed in all 219 public libraries across the state. “It was just a natural fit to include an author tour that allows us to showcase Oklahoma’s rich literary heritage,” said Connie Armstrong executive director of the Oklahoma Center for the Book in the Oklahoma Department of Libraries.
