Read Across Oklahoma 2018

Read Across Oklahoma is part of the statewide Ready to Learn initiative coordinated by the Oklahoma Department of Libraries and OETA. This program promotes literacy and helps build the foundation for a lifetime of learning, specifically targeting preschool children who may be at risk for low literacy.

On Tuesday, April 3, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Oklahoma City Zoo, children are invited to participate in a variety of activities that promote reading and literacy. During the event, Oklahoma’s own Hannah E. Harrison will read her children’s book, “Bernice Gets Carried Away.” Guest appearances will also include Grammy winning children’s entertainers Sugar Free Allstars. Plus, attendees can meet PBS KIDS character Nature Cat.

Activities are free with Zoo admission thanks to financial and volunteer support from Target.

Event sponsors include: Capitol Hill High School, FCCLA, Metro Technology CentersMetropolitan Library SystemOKC Metro Literacy Coalition, Oklahoma Department of Libraries, Pizza HutTargetKrueger Charitable Foundation, The Oklahoma Educational Television Authority and Tinker Federal Credit Union.
